Peter Toews
Director of Bands and Orchestras
Mr. Peter Toews is the Director of Bands, Music Theory, and Music History at Mountain View High School. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in K-12 Music Education and a Master's Degree in Conducting from the University of Northern Colorado where he served as a graduate teaching assistant . While at UNC, Mr. Toews was awarded the Departmental Scholar Award, and was selected for membership in Pi Kappa Lambda (the National Music Honor Society). He is an active member of MENC, CMEA, Phi Beta Mu, and CBA, and is the current Chair for the Colorado All-State Orchestra Governing Board. Under his direction, the Mountain View Band program has received numerous awards and accolades. The Symphonic Band was selected to the Colorado band Bandmasters Association State Band Festival three times, and the Lion Pride Marching Band was the 2002 CBA Class 3A Champions.
Mr. Toews has shared the stage with many distinguished artists such as Douglas Akey, James Bonney, Dr. Lowell Graham, Dr. Russell Guyver, Thomas Leslie, Dr. Richard Mayne, Dr. Lauren Murray, William Pfund, Dr. Kenneth Singleton, and Dr. Nathaniel Wickham. Mr. Toews was selected the 2002-2003 Teacher of the Year at Mountain View High School. He continues to perform and serve as a clinician on a regular basis while living in Greeley with his wife, Shanna, and their twins, Alyson and Michael.
Phil Forman
Director of Vocal Music and Musical Theatre
Mr. Phil Forman is the Director of Vocal Music, Musical Theatre and Arts & Culture at MVHS. He holds two bachelor degrees in Voice/Piano and Instrumental Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Mr. Forman serves as producer for Caught in the Act Productions and directs the musical each year. Seussical the musical was USAWeekend's Colorado Honorable Mention in 2008. Since his first year he has produced major productions such as Crazy for You, Seussical, Dracula: The Case of the Silver Scream, Alice in Wonderland, Miss Saigon, and was a cast member in Children of Eden in 2010.
Mr. Forman serves as percussion instructor for marching band in the fall and teaches Arts & Culture and Music Theory each year.
